On the left hand side,
there is a Navigation Pane that contains areas where different types of
information can be stored. These are held in three menus, each accessible by
clicking on the items shown in lighter colour and without icons.
Person has these menu selections
- Children – the children of that person,
from all marriages and relationships
- Siblings – derived data, showing any
brothers and sisters a person might have
- Chronology – records events other the
basic biographical events of birth, baptism, marriage, death and burial
- Places – optional, depending upon the
selection in Tools Menu | Preferences | Places – lists the places where
the person’s events occurred.
- History – this is intended to a
formalised narrative of a person’s life, either autobiographical or
compile from supporting family information.
- Objects – allows the recording of
physical things that reflect a person’s life – houses they have lived in,
works of art they may have done, constructions in which they were
involved, heirlooms passed on.
- References – here a disjointed
collection of research can be included, such as newspaper clippings, will
transcripts, record extracts – in fact, anything that adds to your
knowledge about a person.
- Private Data – here you would record
information that will have a limited circulation.
- Portfolio – contains photographs,
paintings, sound and video recordings.
- Trivia – derived data, that calculates
interesting facts about a person from information recorded in his/her
biographical events
- Research Log – contains research tasks to
be performed, and the results of past research.
Clicking on Pedigree
will reveal two options:
- Ancestors
- Open Pedigree Group
The Descendants Menu has two sub-menus:
- Descendants
- Open
